The Trust’s focus is on the relief of poverty and the advancement of the evangelical Christian faith, both at home and abroad. Financial support is given to a wide range of charities seeking to relieve poverty in its broadest sense, both throughout the UK and overseas. Grant recipients include organisations giving practical help those in need, offering direct support to the most vulnerable and disadvantaged in society including: the homeless; the elderly; former Servicemen and women; ex-offenders. They also support charities providing practical services to people with physical, mental and learning difficulties and their families/carers, organisations providing opportunities for training and development to young people and small-scale overseas development projects.

The key focus areas of the trust are Human Rights, Prison Reform. Under Human Rights they support organisations that: combat violations of human rights and help victims of torture, refugees from oppression and those who have been falsely imprisoned; help those who have suffered severe bodily or mental hurt through no fault of their own and if need be help their dependents; try in some small way to offset man's inhumanity to man. Under Prison Reform within the United Kingdom they have a particular emphasis on the reduction of re-offending.

The Foundation is the main vehicle for giving of Martin Currie Investment Ltd. It has awarded funds in areas such as health, welfare, international aid, the environment, education, community and culture. The Rob Roy Challenge is the foundation’s flagship fundraising event and each year it chooses award partners to support from the proceeds. Through their Community Investment Fund they support requests for funding in the areas of social welfare, health, children's welfare and children's heath. They give mostly to national and local charities with a few international charities supported.

Stagecoach Group help a number of charities and to support fundraising events and vital services. Significant additional in-kind support, such as complimentary bus and rail travel, is provided by the Group to good causes. There are a number of initiatives in place to help young people, including mentoring and internship programmes to help students gain a better understanding of the skills and routes to enter work, further and higher education and training. Stagecoach also has partnerships with veterans groups in the UK and North America and has demonstrated its commitment to the UK Armed Forces by signing a corporate covenant to support the country’s military community.
